TT's Bedroom Progress Thread
We've loaded all our bedroom furniture into our dining room and we've started to tear apart and rebuild our bedroom!!

Look at our tight quarters!

[Image: DSC00445.jpg] [Image: DSC00447.jpg]

The king-sized bed is shoved into the corner and the space between the dressers and the bed is small! I have to shuffle in sideways to get to the head of the bed! LOL!

And here are some pics of our bedroom:

These two pics...

are of the walls that will be coming down to make our bedroom a little bigger.

Work is on hold until next weekend... watch for continued progress!

I feel your crowded bedroom pain!! Although admittedly, our bedroom is bigger than your dining room!!

What's the bedroom plan for next weekend??

Hey -- you don't have any window coverings!! Be careful about what you and hubby do in there!! Wink

People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do.

Cheesy Grin I put our drapes up shortly after I took these posted pics Cheesy Grin
I even made the bed!! Razz
Let me tell you... while it's taking a little getting used to the occasional car that travels by in the night (lights on the living room ceiling, sounds, etc.), it's be absolutely wonderful to be able to open a window for fresh air!! Love it!! Our bedroom window has been painted shut Sad

I read your post about the mess you're living in while your floors are being refinished. I feel your pain!! I read your post to DH and he said "why do people do that?!" EEK Of course he was being sarcastic because... well... you know... we're living in chaos too!!

Bedroom plans for the weekend?
Well... DH's weekend this week is Thurs/Fri/Sat and tells me that he expects to have most, if not all, of the plaster/lathe removed by the end of the day Thursday!! Then we have to get Jason in to remove the last of the knob & tube wiring before we start to insulate and drywall. I don't know if DH has asked Jason to come by this weekend... hmmm... maybe I should call him. Anyway... then we're kinda on hold until the new window and door arrive. We ordered them on Saturday and it's supposed to take three weeks for delivery Sad We would have ordered sooner, but we're increasing the size of the window so couldn't order until we could measure with the wall open - had to know where the stud was and plan around the new header size.

So those are our immediate bedroom plans! Cheesy Grin
Of course I'll keep you all up-to-date as things progress!! Icon_smile

DH has been back at it in the bedroom Cheesy Grin

And what do I have to share with you?? More photos of mess and mayhem!! Whoa I know... you're probably bored of these pics and you're wondering when the good stuff comes Slap Soon, I promise!!

This pic shows the closet from the room next door (now the dining room), with it's door opening onto our new dining room wall (see the new studs in the background?).
DH removed the bedroom wall separating the room from the closet and - if you strain your eyes a little Say wha? you can get a sense of the extra space we're going to gain when these closets are gone! Here's a photo of the same space, looking down at the mess on the floor...
So... about 4.5 feet of extra space, less the space that will be taken up by the Ikea Pax cabinets we're getting for our new closets. I figure that'll leave us with about 2.5 feet of additional bedroom space - just enough to fit our mega-huge (too big for this room, but it'll fit!) bed and two end tables!!

DH and I will be continuing with the tear-out today and tomorrow.
But we can't get ahold of Jason our electrician!!! I think he's camping, out of range for his cell phone Sad Once the plaster/lathe is removed the wiring has to be tackled... and without contact with Jason, I have no idea how long we'll have to wait until we can move onto the next phase - drywall! Bummer!!

Yes... we finally got hold of Jason! He's having cell phone provider issues so his phone is out of commission. DH finally reached him a couple of days ago... he'll be here tomorrow morning. Icon_smile

We've been making some great progress on the room, but I haven't been sharing because I was thinking that - maybe - readers were getting tired of all my tear-out posts... and that it might be better and more fun for everyone if I just wait until I have some more cool stuff to share. Embarrassed

I've been taking photos, but I haven't uploaded any to the computer... so everyone will have to settle for a verbal update Cheesy Grin

The room is completely gutted, necessary walls have been removed and all the debris has been cleared out. Some insulation has been installed (but we can't finish this until Jason does his thing) and we've hung a few sheets of drywall on the ceiling (Wow, what a task! But the top of my head came in pretty handy EEK).

Tomorrow Jason will remove the last of the knob and tube in both our bedroom and the bathroom, replacing it with all the good stuff (along with some pot lights and lots of plugs [the bedroom only has one right now!]). I think he'll also replace our bathroom light fixture (I love my new one... I'll have to take a picture for you).

Once that's done... it's back to us...
We have to reconfigure the studs in bathroom/bedroom wall so that it will accomodate a medicine cabinet... we're waiting for the new window (bigger then the original window!) and bedroom door to arrive... finish insulation and drywall... etc., etc., etc.

I'm starting to explore paint colour possibilities for the room... if anyone knows of a sage-ish green that looks good with chocolate brown, please share!

So... if people want pictures, let me know... I'm happy to post if you're happy to view/read.

That line is hilarious!! Haha OMG

Of course we want pictures and updates!!!! You should know by now that we live for this kind of stuff!!!

No suggestions for a green off the top of my head. Obviously, the top of my head isn't as useful as yours Wink Have to wait till I'm back home and have access to some fan decks.

HA! I enjoyed the drywall/head line too!

TT, i have no idea why you thought that you shouldn't post your progress. I'm sure that I mentioned before how much I enjoyed your chronicles. I don't really have any comments as I'm usually out of my element but that certainly doesn't mean your thread is not appreciated. I can only speak for myself but I really like the weekly updates........Big Grin
I'm a visual as well, so keep the photos coming! Cheesy Grin

Embarrassed Thanks HU peps! Embarrassed
Sweetie... I absolutely LOVE sharing my reno stories with everyone, but when I re-read my posts it seems that I'm just repeating myself (i.e., bedroom AND dining room tear-outs)... and I have yet to move beyond primed walls to finished, designed rooms... and, because the design stuff is the sexy stuff, I imagined (obvioulsy in error... sorry! :dohIcon_smile that my tear-out stuff was likely boring for everyone. Silly me! Say wha? Cheesy Grin

I'll upload some pics and show everyone where we're at Cheesy Grin
