Our new window (you can see it's a little larger then the original window... yippie!) and our new bedroom door!! I love them!!

[Image: DSC00572.jpg] [Image: DSC00573.jpg]
The pot lights that Jason installed - they'll light up the wardrobes (see next pic!!). And my new chandelier!! Kidding Cheesy Grin these are just temporary lights Cheesy Grin

This photo was taken at Ikea... these are the wardrobes that we're purchasing. Like this display, we'll have two large wardrobes... and we'll have a small wardrobe with the mirror... but we're also getting one more small wardrobe with the dark brown door. Lots of cupboard space with wonderful organizing shelves/pullouts inside for DH and I!!

I posted a thread on the H&H forum about choosing a wall colour for the bedroom. Since then (only a few hours ago Cheesy Grin) I've talked with and may have convinced DH to consider wallpaper!! Not sure what I'll find with brown and green, but I'll search to see if I can find something DH will say yes to and that will compliment my inspiration pillow (pic below). It can't be too "doodle art-ish" (DH's words).
[Image: DSC00568.jpg] [Image: DSC00570.jpg]
I definitely can't make a wall colour decision until I decide on wallpaper... and if wallpaper is out, I can't make a wall colour decision until I've picked my duvet fabric.

BUT... in response to my H&H post, Smoodgie suggested some great greens that I'm definitely going to look at!!

I think I'll go shopping for some bedding this weekend... and I'll explore some wallpaper books!!

RE: TT's Bedroom Progress Thread
Hello HU Peeps!

Well... not much progress to report on our bedroom renovation Sad
DH has been working nights PLUS he's taken on shifts outside his schedule - for example, starting last night he'll work 6 nights straight (usually he's 3 on, 3 off). All this overtime affects his day's off of course... he only had Sunday off in the last cycle and he'll only have 2 days off after this set of 6 Sad The point is that work on the bedroom has been slow as a result.

BUT!! DH and I did install the door yesterday Cheesy Grin It looks great!

DH also repaired all the "holes" in the floor (where the walls were) by filling them with plywood (we're carpeting this room). There was also a "hole" in the threshold that he patched with oak strips to match the hallway/living room flooring (had to be done before the door could be installed). I'll take pics soon and post so you can see what I mean... but my camera's batteries need to be replaced so it'll be a few days Razz

We've also insulated most of the walls and we've completely drywalled the ceiling.

Next - hopefully on DH's next set of days-off (Aug 10/11 - so long to wait!!) we'll install our new window!! That'll be a more involved task then our other windows because the window we're installing is larger - DH and I will have to re-frame the interior wall and then cut out a larger opening... should be fun! Cheesy Grin

Once the window is in we're ready to drywall... and all the work that goes with that (yuck!). BUT... then comes paint, carpet, trim (and more painting)... and then furniture!!! It's all coming together... slowlySay wha?!!!

Oh!! I almost forgot to share - I've been shopping Cheesy Grin I purchased some bed side lamps that I really like - the shades are a perfect sage green and the bases are traditionally shaped but made of a contemporary brushed stainless steel. I also picked up some sage green sheets. Again... pics later! Thumbs Up

New photos!!!

Here's our new window... next to our old window:
[Image: DSC00620.jpg] [Image: DSC00604.jpg]
The new window was installed today and is about 8" larger the the old window... I love it!

DH still has to install trim on the exterior.

Because DH has been working so much, the window is all the progress I have to report this weekend. But last week I promised a few progress pics... here's what I have for you:

One of our two new bedside lamps...

The door, installed...

The threshold repair job - oak on the bottom, bedroom's fir on the top (we'll be carpeting over the fir)...

Next weekend we're drywalling... so there should be lots of updates to share next Sunday!

Nice!!

Once the drywall is up, will you be painting right away??

Thanks Smoodgie Cheesy Grin

Exactly Yes, I'll be painting pretty much right away... we want to get this room finished!! Icon_smile If all goes as planned next weekend, I should be painting by Monday. Fingers crossed!

Then all we have to do is trim out the windows & door and then have the carpet layed (or lay the carpet before the door time is installed?) Cheesy Grin

... and then we can move in!! Happy Dance

I won't start the duvet for a few weeks...

Well... DH and I are hanging drywall and mudding, taping, sanding (x3) said drywall this weekend... and it's going to be hot!! Even with my new window opened wide, we're going to swelter! EEK Say wha?

But I'm determined that we're going to get the work done so that I can start painting!!

In the mean time, I'm hoping you can help me with some handle options for our wardrobe.

Here's a photo (again)...
I'm far from crazy about the handles they're using on this floor model.

Originally I was thinking that I'd use glass knobs - I love these glass knobs and have them (the chrome ones) on two of my kitchen cabinets as well as on my bathroom cabinets.

The thing is - and I suspect you'll all agree - they're probably too small for the cabinet. You may not know this, but these wardrobes are about 7.5' tall - these pretty little knobs may look silly on such tall doors. Of course if you like the look, let me know because I can be persuaded to purchase them!!

While I don't really want to go modern/contemporary, I feel that these doors would look great with a long handle like this:

I'm sure I've never seen a more vintage-inspired handle that was long like this - have any of you? Or maybe I could use contemporary handles like these, but in a vintage finish - I'm thinking an oiled bronze finish would be great. We're getting door knobs similar to this:

Maybe the finish on our wardrobe handles should match.

Please share your thoughts and ideas... I only have a few weeks until we're installing these!

RE: TT's Bedroom Progress Thread
Well... DH and I DID get the drywall hung in the bedroom, but we didn't even start with the mudding and taping!! DH will start with that on Thursday - then I'll get to come home from work and sand... he'll be leaving the dirty work to me! Growl

I had hoped to be painting this week... but maybe by the weekend?!
Fingers crossed!! Exactly

I'm going to speak to DH about going to "end of the roll" on Friday night to look for our carpet...

I want progress!!!!! I want to move into my bedroom!!!! I want to finish my house!!!

RE: TT's Bedroom Progress Thread
I like the middle one in the top row, but it's not cheap:

No they're not cheap!!! Yikes! $77 dollars a piece! EEK
When I first read "not cheap" I thought - "well, we're only going to need 5 - we can afford to spend a few more dollars." But we can't spend that much! Embarrassed

Thanks anyway, Smoodgie. Icon_smile
What I will do, however, is keep an eye out for a similar, less expensive version before I rule it out entirely Cheesy Grin

RE: TT's Bedroom Progress Thread
Well... I did find some handles similar to the ones you posted, Smoodgie... but in the end DH and I ruled them (and a few others I took photos of while at Lee Valley/HD) out of the equation.

Here's what we're left with...
Tell me what you think.

This one has a nice, soft line to it:

DH likes the contemporary line to this one, but it's in an antiqued finish. I like the length:
[Image: DSC00673.jpg] [Image: DSC00674.jpg]

Finally... we have this expensive, special order handle. The length is fantastic; the style... I don't know - maybe a little too "rustic hacienda":

While I have your undivided attention Cheesy Grin let me share with you our new bedroom chandelier. I love it!
[Image: DSC00668.jpg] [Image: DSC00669.jpg]
I've included the second from-the-box photo so that you can see it better - the photo from the store isn't great. One of the things I love about this chandelier is that it has little leaves on it similar to my dining room chandelier Icon_smile

Also... I've picked out our new carpet for this room. Here's an updated story-board photo:

So... we have our first coat of mud/tape on the walls... I sanded them all yesterday. As soon as DH has days off again (Wed., Thur., Fri.) he'll finish the mudding and sanding. That means I can paint this weekend!!

Next, the trim is installed, the wardrobes are installed... then the carpet.
We're getting there!
