RE: The Plaster-Guy is Coming!
I've put a call into my brother... he and a friend are contracting themselves out for painting jobs, but he's done drywall before. I'm wondering if he/they want to take this on. We'd pay them well, of course... this wouldn't be a freebe!!

I also have a few other contractors (grrrr! Growl ) to call for quotes.

But I'll speak to DH about the possibility of doing the work ourselves. Say wha?
We just don't want to make a mistake on a big job like this!
And we definitely don't want to do the horrible job of removing the popcorn from the ceiling!! Yuck!! Barf

Hahahaha!! I like the addition to your signature Icon_smile

I agree, doing the work yourselves would suck. But at least you know you'll both show up to do the job Wink

RE: The Plaster-Guy is Coming!
I'm so excited and happy!!!! Happy Dance

When searching for a plaster/drywall guy I came across this guy named Shane. I really like the way Shane sounded, but he was too busy to help us out. But he said he knew this guy and that he'd call him and pass our name/number along. "Hmmmm, ya right!" I thought to my contractor-distrusting self. Sure enough, within half hour this friend of his was calling us. Joe is his name. He made arrangements to come over the following evening (last night) to see the place and give us a quote.

Well... he showed up! LOL
That in itself was a miracle given our recent luck!!

And DH thought he was fantastic!! Thumbs Up
He explained what he'd do, he talked to DH about the special corners I want in the archways telling him how to make the forms ("No problem" he said!!), he answered DH's questions (like how soon we can paint after the work is done = 3 days is the answer)... everything!

And the best part?
His quote came in half as much as JC's!!!! Whoa

He should be starting next week (still need to confirm that)... probably Tuesday. Yay!

If anyone wants to look at his website, here's a link: http://newlookdrywall.ca/

I might have to change my signature (below)! Cheesy Grin
