Stalking a cabinet at HomeSense
I went to HomeSense after work yesterday and saw a really nice cabinet that I think would work well in the DR. It's a bit small, but there are also two side tables that could go on either side of it to beef it up. Unfortunately, all three pieces have HOLD signs on them -- booooo!!!! Blue Thumbs Down

I popped in after work this afternoon, and they're still there. Fingers crossed that whoever put them on hold changes her mind!! They'll be on hold till closing time tonight. My plan is to go to HS 15 minutes before closing time or first thing tomorrow morning, and if they're still there, I'll snap them up!! Lone Ranger

'Cause I didn't have a camera or my phone with be when I was there, plus the pieces are tucked in behind other pieces. When I go back tonight, I'll try to remember to bring my phone Lone Ranger

Forgot to bring my phone -- but not to worry, my stalking paid off.... the cabinet and side tables are mine!! Whoever had them on hold didn't show up before closing time today, so they were up for grabs Icon_smile I'll pick them up first thing tomorrow morning.

I have no idea if the pieces are big enough for the DR. But you know my motto -- Buy it and try it!! If they work, then I at least have a start for the colour scheme Blue Thumbs Up

Not sure if the side tables will work, but I think the mirrored chest is a keeper.

Different chest - good find - not loving the side tables with it - do you want another mirrored piece though as you have a fair bit in your living room and don't you also have a piece in your entrance hall? I am thinking a wooden piece of furniture and if you want to echo the mirrored look from the lR then you could always place mirrored glass on top or accessorize with a mirrored piece?

I'm not sold on the side tables, but I really like the chest. I could probably find a home for it in another room if it doesn't work in the DR -- for $200, I think it's worth hanging onto, yes??

caro, I have a small mirrored console table in the DR. So yeah, might be a bit of mirror overkill in the DR -- especially with the huge mirror on the wall!!

I tried the two side tables in the guest bedroom, but they don't work in there. The scale isn't quite right, and the're too gold. I think those two tables will probably go back to HS.

I really like the buffet from Pottery Barn that somebody on H&H suggested. Too bad the Canadian dollar is going down the tubes -- it would end up costing over $2000 to get that piece Sad

Mrs. F, I actually did take the pic of the chest & tables in the DR. The DR is in the midst of an upheaval right now (half-painted and half-decorated for Christmas), so that's why I didn't take a wider shot of it. Maybe once the Xmas decorating is done, I'll take another pic.
