Oh, crap-o-rama :-(
Luigi came this morning to refinish the floors in my office and one other room in the basement. We knew there was damage to the parquet in the other room from cat pee Barf What we didn't know is what Luigi discovered this morning -- condensation that's damaged the parquet in both rooms. So, now all the parquet has to come out and we have to figure out where the condensation is coming from and then fix that problem and then put in new floors.... OMFG!!! Wall Taz Growl

At the rate we get projects done, I might have my office done by 2010 Cries

That's the first thing I thought of -- I would DIE if those walls had to be ripped out!!!!!!

Hubby says that walls are OK. St the most, we might have to rip out the baseboards.

So.... any suggestions for what to use on a basement floor?? Would cork be good?? I saw a nice chocolate brown cork at Lowes a few weeks ago.....

Yes!!! Cork would be fantastic!!!

Hopefully DH is right about the walls.
And fingers crossed you don't have a foundation problem that calls for digging and re-sealing/wrapping the house's foundation!!

I cannot imagine the headache and aggravation and mess that will happen if we need to get the entire foundation resealed and wrapped EEK Remember those pics I posted of the backhoe outside my kitchen window?? You should see the mess it made to the neighbour's front & back yards when they had their foundation fixed. We would probably have to tear up our patio and our deck and our gardens, not to mention our entire lawn getting chewed up..... Cries Cries Cries

We finally ripped up the parquet in the office -- so discouraging, because the majority of it is in perfect condition Doh

We decided to go with laminate in the office. It was on sale at Home Depot for about $2.00/sq ft -- a lot cheaper than cork, and I think it'll be more durable. The choice was between zebrano and walnut. We went with.....
