The space is truly befitting of a photo spread but the lack of dancing bananas and cheerleaders has me asking what you think. It's been a whole day now and it must be dark in the East. Are you getting accustomed to the new colors?

RE: New living room colours
Well..... in all honesty, I'm not loving the ceiling & wall colours. I like them, but they don't inspire Yay! and Cheesy Grinb: in me. I think I should have gone with a bluey or purpley gray -- like ICI Silver Reef, which teucer suggested. But I looked and looked at the Silver Reef paint chip, and it just didn't look right with the curtains. The colours I used DID look right with the curtains -- but now that the walls are painted and room is dressed, the gray carpet and gray stripes in the curtains look a lot more blue than the wall colour.

I Don't Know

Why can't colours just be colours?? Why do they have to change depending on the light and what's around them?? Doh

Anyway -- thank you for the positive comments. I do think the room looks very glam and elegant. I don't know.... maybe my eyes are suffering from shock going from the bold cobalt blue to the warm gray!! The room feels a lot bigger and more open now, which is kind of cool. And I think the white wainscoting and trim stand out nicely againt the wall colour. So it isn't all bad -- it just isn't quite what I had in mind.

Smoodgie... the room really does look wonderful! I agree with everyone when they write that it's worthy of an H&H photoshoot!! Cheesy Grin

I'm sure you've thought of this... but maybe you just have to live with it for a week or so to see if the colours grow on you. You've been working so hard on this room for quite some time... it's possible that you set yourself for a big "moment" when you dressed the room and the anti-climactic feelings you had were really about reaching the end of a big job.

Of course, it's always possible that you're right about the wall colour... we're looking at it on our monitors. You could always try a sample of the Silver Reef on a section of wall next to the curtains... not a paint chip... and see what you think. It's easy enough to paint over with the grey you painted on this weekend should you find it doesn't wow you. Icon_smile

Live with it for a week... and then go with your instints!!

I like the colour better, but it just isn't right Sad I'm going to pick up a couple of small cans of ICI Silver Reef and Valiant Grey and try them out. Sucks, but I have to do it right. Even if it means moving everything back our of the LR and taping off the trim again and painting again..... EEK Hopefully the ceiling can stay the colour it is. But if not, then at least I'll be able to repaint it in a matte finish....

Not sure when I'll repaint -- I guess when the next snowstorm hits Rolleyes
