Letter art for the office walls
Not sure how it worked, but with the help of a projector and a mirror and LView Pro, hubby and I just traced the letters and words onto the wall in the office. Yikes, what a job!!! But I have to say the graphic projected onto the walls looked FANTASTIC!!!!! So I know it's going to be worth all the work in the end.

Unfortunately, we ran onto a problem -- nothing major, but I need help in figuring out how to solve it. Probably due to my crappy mathematical skills, the letters ended up being about 1-1/2 feet short at the end of each wall. Sucks, but I REALLY don't want to redo the graphic, paint over the wall, and then trace all the letters again. Any suggestios on how to fix it??

The option I'm considering is to just add more letters to each end of the graphic. That'll involve hubby borrowing the projector from work again, but that's no biggie. I won't be able to modify the graphic till I'm at work on Tuesday, 'cause I don't have Adobe Illustrator on my home computer. But in the meantime, I can get started painting the letters. I'm thinking a shade lighter than the walls in a matte finish and a shade darker than the walls in a semi-gloss finish. I'll also use the darker colour to paint the filing cabinet.

Thoughts??

Sorry, no pics to post yet. I might start painting the letters tomorrow -- I'll post an "in progress" shot if I do.

I think your instincts are right. If you can add more letters to the 1.5ft of wall, then I think its the best option. The only one too since I don't have any other ideas Cheesy Grin

Yippie!! You're working on it!! Yay!

I agree with Sweetie and your instincts, Smoodgie - add more letters and words to your graphic at work on Tuesday.

At first I imagined that you could project a portion of your current graphic over the empty sections until you found a letter/word pattern that fit... but I don't know if that would work very well = you may be able to see the pattern repeat OR you wouldn't find letters/words that would fit the pattern properly. The best thing would be to add to the graphic - that way your letter/word pattern would be perfect!

I'm SOOOO looking forward to seeing progress and completion pics of this project! Cheesy Grin

OK, I added more letters to each end. Hopefully, they'll cover the empty 1-1/2 feet.

I did something special at one end.... can you see what it is??

I won't start painting the letters till the upstairs office is done -- we can't move the office furniture back in till the walls are painted, and we can't get our bedroom night tables out of the dining room because the office hutch is in the way.

Meanwhile, the entertainment unit is still sitting in the hallway after 1-1/2 years.....

Grrrrrr.... Growl I'm tired of living in a construction zone!!!

RE: Letter art for the office walls
Nope, not initials. There's a word at one of the two ends..... it's a name.....

I might start painting the letters on the weekend, assuming I get the upstairs office done by Friday.

I DID see that if you had stuck an I in there you could spell Brian backwards - I personally like that name very much so I was destined to see it. Embarrassed

Oh yeah, you're right. Didn't even notice that!! I did that just for you Wink

Hubby suggested painting a few letters before we draw the rest of them on the wall, to make sure it's do-able. Well, I'm sure it's do-able, just not so sure I wanna DO it!! Wink
