RE: Hallway colour
Now I have another hallway colour question -- do I paint the trim Ultra White to match the trim in the rest of the house, or Cloud White which would probably look warmer with the wall colour?? I don't think the trim not being the exact same white as the other trim in the house is an issue -- but it could be a problem when it comes to the doors, which are pure white. You'll notice the different shades of white when the doors are closed and surrounded by the Cloud White trim. Which brings up another idea -- should I paint the doors black?? I'd love to do that, but I'm worried that the end of the hall that has all the doors will look too dark. Here's a sketch of the layout of the main floor. The red lines are the doors:
So you can see how 5 of the 6 doors are all together at the end of the hallway. And there isn't much light at this end, because most of the doors are usually closed to keep the dogs from going into the rooms. I don't want to paint the doors unless I paint them black. So either the trim and doors all stay pure white, or the trim goes Cloud White and the doors go black. BTW, I'm leaning towards BM Yorkshire Tan for the hallway. I looked at lighter champagne colours and tinted whites, but they just don't have the warmth and impact that I want. People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do. |

RE: Hallway colour
Well, reading the thread about black doors on H&H, I'm being swayed in the black door direction.

Yes to black doors!
And I think it would be fine to use CW on your trim as long as it doesn't meet up with the other white anywhere... having said that, won't the whites meet up through the door trim? I need to look at Yorkshire Tan in my fan deck. Edin Design - Home remodeling is fun! |

RE: Hallway colour
There is no doubt that the hallway will be darker; I've seen it at seanb's.
Too dark is a personal interpretation. To answer a question posed on another forum; I would not paint the other interior doors. |

I was thinking the same thing, Smoodgie... just paint the hallway side of the doors, carry the colour around the sides but keep the room side in the white. Edin Design - Home remodeling is fun! |
