New room configurations
Hubby and I moved the furniture from the downstairs bedroom into what was the office upstairs. It all fits, and there's even room for a leather armchair. So I guess that room will be the guest bedroom with the Loblaws furniture, and I'll have to either store grandma's bedroom set or sell it. There's not enough space in the room for it all anyway.
So this means that what used to be the upstairs guest bedroom will now be hubby's office. Meanwhile, I'm still working on transforming what was the downstairs guest bedroom into my office. I think I just confused myself ![]() Anyway -- here's the furniture in the room. I only have one night table, so the highboy will go on one side of the bed. It's pulled out from the wall right now 'cause there's a shelf on the wall behind it. I need to decide what colour to paint the room. After looking at brown & green paint colours for sweetie, I'm really liking the combo!! But the I kind of what to paint the room purple. Or maybe try out one of those RL metallic paints on the headboard wall. Or something totally and completely different.... maybe use the throw cushion on the armchair for colour inspiration?? Here's the bedding & throw cushions I used in the downstairs guest bedroom: BTW, I'm going to move the chrome & crystal chandelier that was in the former upstairs guest bedroom into this one. Guest bedroom in progress
I just hit HS and Zellers and I now have the colour scheme for the "new" guest bedroom -- chocolate brown, silver, and purple!! I found 3 fab purple cushions at HS -- although one is purple & copper, so that one will probably go back. And Zellers has a 30% off sale on all Alfred Sung bedding. I bought a silver comforter and matching cushion -- although depending on the cushion quotient once all is said and done, that one might go back.
I'll post pics later..... too much other stuff to do now!! People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do. |

RE: Guest bedroom in progress
OK, here's a pic of some stuff I bought for the bedroom. I started with the Alfred Sung comforter. It's got a bit of a sheen to it in real life. The pillow shams in the middle are from HomeSense -- they're sort of ruched. And on the top is a curtain panel from The Linen Chest. I think the three silvery grays work together.
I already have a chocolate brown bedskirt, and I'm thinking chocolate brown sheets. I think I might forego the purple and just go with silver, brown, and cream -- I already have a cream cushion, a leopard print cushion, and another animal print cushion. Plus I bought the silver Alfred Sung cushion. Maybe a dark brown throw at the end of the bed?? As for the walls -- I have a few thoughts bouncing around in my head. My current one is to paint the accent wall behind the bed metallic silver and the other walls chocolate brown or light gray. Or, I could paint the accent wall chocolate brown and the other walls metallic silver. Oh, what about a couple of these fuzzy cream sheepskin rugs from Ikea: People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do. |

I like the purple with the silver, nice touch. If you go with the animal print cushions, I would forgo the rugs.

RE: New room configurations
I like the new color scheme. The purple and silver will punch it up.

RE: New room configurations
Well, you know what I'm thinking..... the cushions may be the same shade of purple as the G&B wallpaper with the funky flowers. In which case, I could use that paper on the accent wall if I go with the brown/silver/purple colour scheme

RE: Guest bedroom in progress
So the purple cushions are keepers then?? They really are quite pretty. Strictly decorative, though -- I wouldn't want to put my head/face on all those beads!!
If I go with the purple cushions, what other ones should I use on the bed?? Just the cream one and the silver one?? Would the spotted animal one be OK on the arm chair?? Maybe the leopard one can go in the office. Although I was thinking the red striped one could go in there. People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do. |

RE: Guest bedroom in progress
I like the purple and silver cushions, too.
![]() I vote for keeping the spotted furry pillow for your arm chair Walls: I can't get my head around 3 brown walls and one silver wall - it seems to me that it should be the other way around. The more I think about it, though, and given the purple and silver direction of the soft furnishings, I like the idea of a grey paint rather then the brown. In fact, why not keep the brown for the bed skirt... it'll help ground the space and will tie in with the dark brown furniture. Edin Design - Home remodeling is fun! |

RE: New room configurations
I read this after your post about pillows and wall colour... the wallpaper here would be fun!
But... I feel that the paper is very whimsical... and your headboard and other furnishings (with the exception of the chandelier) are not. They're more structured. I could be wrong on this!!! Edin Design - Home remodeling is fun! |

RE: Guest bedroom in progress
Well, now that my HU peeps have give the purple cushions a
I'll go back to my original plan for a brown, silver, and purple colour scheme. Which means I'll likely paint the accent wall metallic silver and the other walls either a soft gray or a purple that's similar to the cushions. I found a couple in the Sico fan deck that are a perfect match So who's going to come visit once I get the room done??
