Guest bedroom ideas....
The floors in the half of our house that has the bedrooms will be refinished the last month of August. I'm working on re-decorating ideas now so that they can (hopefully!!) be put into motion before the floors are done. My head hurts from all the thinking I've been doing!!
OK, so here are my ideas.... (1) Switch the current guest bedroom and the office around. This makes sense to me for a few reasons: The office is bigger, and there's more bedroom furniture to fit in than office furniture. The office has the perfect focal wall to put the bed on -- the configuration of the current guest bedroom doesn't lend itself to a good focal wall to put the bed on. And the current guest bedroom is beside the master bedroom -- I think moving it farther away gives everyone a bit more privacy, yes?? (2) Move the furniture from the basement guest bedroom into the main floor guest bedroom. It's the cheap Loblaws stuff, but it looks better than the fancy set that's in the main floor bedroom now. (3) If we're ever going to remove the popcorn ceilings from the bedrooms and office, now is the time!! I'd like to remove the popcorn and add crown moulding in the guest bedroom and office (master bedroom already has crown moulding). (4) Assuming we remove the popcorn ceiling, I'm thinking I might try a Ralph Lauren metallic paint on the ceiling in the bedroom. It's not a huge room, so it wouldn't be a big investment of time or money. I'd rather try it out on a small project than on the DR walls. I'm thinking maybe a metallic silver with BM Weimeraner walls (new Affinity colour). (5) Another ceiling idea would be to try installing moulding similar to what we did with the wainscoting to create a sort of coffered ceiling effect. I don't have any pics 'cause I'm on my dad's laptop at the cottage. I'll try to post some on Monday. But in the meantime, any thoughts on my guest bedroom ideas?? People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do. |

RE: Guest bedroom ideas....
Sorry, haven't taken any pics to post yet
But this is what I have in mind for the ceiling in the guest bedroom. Do you think it would work if we left the ceiling stucco, or would it be better smooth?? People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do. |

RE: Guest bedroom ideas....
Hey Smoodgie... love that ceiling!
In fact, that's what DH and I are thinking of doing in our dining room I personally think it would work best with a smooth ceiling. V Edin Design - Home remodeling is fun! |
