Does this chair work?
I'm still on the hunt for a chair for my media room. I keep coming back to this chair because it looks soft (no hard edges). I'm told that armless chairs aren't a good choice if you are planning on watching movies while sitting on it? The measurements are good with this chair. Space is very limited. I can pretty much choose any fabric and colour (although the gold one is the least expensive). My sofa is white twill (slipcovered) and my furniture is dark espresso. Please be honest, do you like this chair??? If so, should I go with gold, tan, dark brown, green...?

RE: Does this chair work?
No I don't and I agree that it would not be comfortable to sit in for extended periods of time ie viewing TV/entertaining. Have you thought of a chair with lower arms - check out Silva or Van Gogh for ideas. If you are interested, there are people on this forum that could order these for you at considerably less than what you would pay in stores.

RE: Does this chair work?
Sorry AB, I'm not loving the chair either.
Have look at these sites and see if you find anything. http://www.vangoghdesigns.com/ and http://www.silva4home.com/index.shtml |

RE: Does this chair work?
These are the chairs that I like at Urban Barn. The 2nd chair is available in brown and is also a recliner.
These are chairs that I like from Silva: A chair that I like from Crate & Barrel: A chair that I like from Room & Board: And lastly, the one that I like from Pottery Barn: The chair cannot be any deeper than 32" approximately because the desk and desk chair will be behind the chair. Hard decision because I like a lot of these chairs. What are your thoughts??? |

RE: Does this chair work?
The Charles chair from Silva is very comfortable and has great lines. And really, I'm not biased just because I have the Charles sectional
I don't know about the other places, but with Silva & Van Gogh, you can provide your own fabric if you find one that you love, so you're not limited by the fabrics they have. BTW, I have the Holly in the living room. It's a super-comfy chair too. But because it doesn't have arms, it might not be the best choice for a movie-watching room. People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do. |

RE: Does this chair work?
Thanks for the tips smoodgie! I'm planning on going out today to look at the groove chair at Urban Barn. Do you know what stores carry Silva furniture in the GTA? I would like to see the three chairs that I like from their line as well.

I don't know who carries Silva in the GTA, but I can find out for you. Might not be till Monday, though.

RE: Does this chair work?
I ordered the chair today! I got the Van Gogh 'Groove Chair' (shown as the first chair in the photos). I ordered it in a custom fabric. The fabric is currently on back order and then from there, it will take 6 weeks. So basically I won't have the chair until Jan-Feb but I'm okay with that (I've been without a chair for a while now). The chair fabric is called "Richmond - Camelot". Anyhow, I'm excited about it. I can't wait to see it in the room. Too bad that I won't have it for Christmas but I will have to be patient

Very nice.
![]() Why 6 weeks? Do you mind telling how much you paid? |

RE: Does this chair work?
I was told that the material is on back order. Apparently they placed the order for fabric already and the majority of the material is already accounted for. Sounds strange to me but they know what they're doing. So they have to wait for the material to come in, and then the chair will be made in BC and then shipped to the GTA. As for the price...I'm embarrassed to say
