Dining room fabrics galore
I picked up a few Roert Allen fabric books. Here are a bunch of pics -- all with the Steel silk I'm planning to use for the curtains. First, some silks:

All the rest are upholstery fabrics, so would be for the seat cushions. These first few are from the book called Twig -- they're more brown than bronze, but could work:

I really like this one:

And these ones are all from a book called Steel -- so will all presumably work with the Steel silk for the curtains. First is a fabric that teucer suggested -- it's the only one she posted that I was able to find:

And more:

I have to bring the books back today, but I can go back and borrow them again if I need to.

Let me know what you think.....

Hi Smoodgie,
In the silk group I like the ones in pic #3 the best.
In the brocade group (post #3) I like the one Teucer suggested, #1, #3 and #4
Hope that helps!

I am LOVING those fabrics from Steel. Didn't like the fabrics from the other book. The Steel fabrics are all so gorgeous I can't imagine ever making a decision.

There! Told you I'd not likely be very helpful on this site! ;-)

You picked the right thread ED, smoodgie's been struggling with this room for almost a year........All opinions are important, and of course your input is helpful! Cheesy Grin

How is your drapery dilemma going? Have you decided on anything yet? I saw on another forum you were looking at banding as an option for the drapery, are you still considering it?

RE: Dining room fabrics galore
OMG, deciding what to do in my DR has been a major headache!! Doh I just can't make up my mind on the colour scheme I want to go with -- and now that you've revived this thread, I'm back to thinking that steely blue & copper would look great!! EEK

But I love purple and I found some pics of purple DRs, so that's another direction I'm considering.

Also, I was looking at some books about colour schemes at Chapters, and one combo that I kept seeing was purple & gold. I have an inspiration pic from sweetie of a purple & gold colour scheme that I really like, and I'm seriously considering going that way.

The thing I have to keep in mind is that the DR has to work with the LR, which is a mirror image of the DR on the opposite side of the hallway. Each room looks into the other, so there have to be some common elements between the two. We do have the wainscoting in both rooms, which helps tie them together. But the colours should really work together too.

Help

Do not like any of the first set, the second set of upholstery - none - you do need to go more bronzy on chairs I think, 3rd set - love the fabric Teucer suggested and then of the last group like #6 and #8 - so now you are probably even more confused!
Agree that although the room does not need to "Match" with the LR, some flow and co-ordination is necessary.
Not sure that the purple as shown would work - think too bright? You have a paler purple cushion in the LR don't you but it's subtle right?

RE: Dining room fabrics galore
I like the Steel collection. if you are considering the fabric for the seats then i think you should choose smaller pattern, because those seats are not very big. my advice would be 4,5 or 7, or maybe stripes too (depending of what rug you'll get). other fabrics from this collection are very nice, but if you'll put on the seat, i think their pattern is way too big.
