Dining room chandelier
I think it was worth the aggravation and three trips to the US to get this chandelier Icon_smile

Keep in mind the DR is a work in progress -- ignore everything else in the room!!! Embarrassed

RE: Dining room chandelier
It's VERY sparkly!! Cool Not bad for a cheap imitation of the real thing!! Wink

Seriously, this is NOT the same chandelier that's on the Horchow web site and that you saw at the lighting store in Van. I mean, it's nice, but there are certain elements of it that are obviously cheap. Like the strip of rhinestones that's badly glued around the round piece near the bottom crystal Rolleyes And it's not 32" wide -- it's more like 28" wide.

I just hope the wiring meets the necessary standards. I'm considering getting an electrician to take a look at it just to be safe!! EEK Although I suppose hubby would have noticed if there was something not right about the wiring.

looks great! Icon_smile Not bad for the price you paid. You would have paid so much more to buy it from Horchow and the other place.

RE: Dining room chandelier
Sorry about my original one word response... I was getting ready for work Cheesy Grin

I noticed it was very sparkly - the photo you took without the lights on showed chrystal reflections on the walls/ceiling!

Even though it's a cheaper version of the real deal, are you happy with it? Will you be content with it in your dining room? And will the smaller size be okay? Not cool that it has a badly glued strip of rhinestones around that bottom piece (I see it now that I've looked closer). Sad Do you think that with some kind of gentle glue remover (so as not to mar the chrome/silver finish) you could remove the rhinestones? I'm thinking the chandelier doesn't need them - a silver dooley-dab at the bottom might look classier.

BUT!!!! It looks pretty damned terrific in the photos!

Re: having an electrician look at it... since he worked with it, go with DH on this one. It's likey standard wiring and not an issue. DH may feel that it's not worth the money spent. Then again, there may have been an element of the wiring that concerned him. So I say let him make the call.

Cdngirl... if she'd bought the original fixture here at Vancouver Lighting she would have spent $3,900!!

So if you're happy with it, Smoodgie, you've definitely got yourself a terrific deal!
