I guess there's no flying under the radar here, is there?!

Yes, SIG (Sam) was here yesterday with his helper-dude, Kerry, and they had a lot to do!!

First of all, SIG and Kerry had to install our replacement cabinet. It looks wonderful... and finally we have a cabinet we can stock with food!!

He also had to raise the farm sink up by 3/4" because Robert the Granite Guy made this request.

They also had to install the crown moulding and light-rail... but SIG suggested coming back to install the light-rail once I had the backsplash set. Makes perfect sense because I don't want to have to tile around this important detail... better for him to install over the tile.

Okay... so here are a couple of pics that show where we're at now with the install. Hopefully Robert will be here next week!! I'll have to keep you posted on that, though.

And of course, Shelby had to pose for this last picture Cheesy Grin

Hahahaha!!!! Shelby is a real ham!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheesy Grin

Everything is coming together so beautifully Icon_smile And I love that you're going with a colour scheme and style that's different from what's trendy.

Can't wait to see the countertop and backsplash installed Icon_smile Did I miss a decision on the backsplash tiles?? Embarrassed

It's been a lot of fun watching your kitchen transformation Icon_smile

And nope, don't even think about flying under the radar!!! Cheesy Grin Wink

Thanks, Smoodgie!! To be truthful, apart from colour (i.e., darker cabinets) I didn't stop to think about what was trendy... I just wanted to do something true to the age of the house with contemporary touches (like darker cabinets, stainless steel appliances and finishings, granite counters). Of course, apron-fronted sinks are very trendy right now! Cheesy Grin

I posted a picture of the tile I was considering for the backsplash in another post... here is is again, along with the granite we're getting:

From the beginning I've been wanting to use a subway tile for it's period quality... but the one I'm looking at has a matte finish which lends it a more contemporary feel. Another reason I like this particular subway... it matches the mosaic tiles really well... and I LOVE the mosaics! They look like shells Icon_smile But... no choice has been made yet. I'm going to wait until the counter is in so that I can bring some samples in.

Oh, that's right, now I remember the little shell mosaics Embarrassed Those tiles are really nice. And love your granite choice. How much longer till the countertops are installed??

We haven't heard from Robert... but we placed the order about 2 weeks ago, and he said he would need approximately 2 weeks to cut and prepare the counters. So... should be soon!
