RE: Countdown on... to a new kitchen!
As long as you know what RGG is talking about re: the seams in the counter, I won't worry about the fact that I have no idea what he's talking about!!! Embarrassed I'm with you, though -- better to not break up a large expanse of granite with a seam.

Can't wait to see pics of the granite options you find today!! Blue Thumbs Up

RE: Countdown on... to a new kitchen!
Hi Donnasinc,
It's a Kitchen Aid gas stove... and I love it!
We still haven't hooked up the range hood fan so I haven't been able to use the oven yet... but soon!!! The oven is a combination convection and gas - curious how it works. The stove-top is wonderful! Before this stove arrived we had one with individual covers for each gas-element - sometimes pots felt tippy, and if I wanted to move a full, heavy pot from one element to another I would have to lift and place carefully. With this new stove, I can slide 'cause the top is continuous across the surface Icon_smile I did have to get used to how gas cooked - it's hotter - but I DO like it better then electric (I had a glass top in the condo).

Cheers!
Vickie

P.S. I still need to read the manual for the stove... hmmm...

Thanks.
I was thinking of a gas top and electric oven. You will love convection, I could not do without that after living with it for awhile.

RE: Countdown on... to a new kitchen!
We had convection in our last stove... for for some crazy reason it took forever to heat up to temperature. That's what I hated most about my last stove... not so much the glass top (although I didn't like cleaning it). I DO think it was a problem with the model (GE Profile) and not the convection part. I did like the convection.

Because I haven't read the manual, I'm not sure how convection works with the gas. But I'm assuming that the oven heats up nicely, and quickly.

I'll let you know... and maybe I had better pull out the manual for a little light reading at bedtime Icon_smile Come to think of it, I also have to read the manuals for the dishwasher and microwave. What happened to just pressing "start"?!

Our electrician was over this evening... and he installed our pendant lights!!
They look wonderful! Happy Dance

Well... except the kitchen isn't done yet Say wha?
DH commented on the drywall-less wall in this second pic. Oh well... it'll come together eventually Icon_smile

Here's good news... our new cabinet is being delivered next Thursday, and will likely be installed on the following Monday or Tuesday - SIG (Sam) will also finish triming things out then, too (crown and light rails). It'll be great to have the install complete!

RGG (Robert) will be here in about two weeks, too, to install the granite... Bob the window guy (BWG) will be here sometime next week (I hope - he's cancelled twice now because of weather) to install our new kitchen window... then I'll have to make a backsplash decision...
It's wierd = I feel like we're so close to being done, but then I think about all the things that still need to happen.

Soon!! Cheesy Grin

I can jump up and down all I want, ranting that I want things done NOW... or even SOON... but in the end, I'm at mercy to everyone's schedule Sad That's okay, though... I'm loving the kitchen AND I'm having fun Icon_smile

Thanks Smoodgie and Sweetie... I'm glad you like and approve Wink of my pendant light purchase.

Well, you obviously aren't jumping up and down high enough or ranting loud enough!!!!! Cheesy Grin Wink

It's tough when you have to depend on other people to do stuff for you. But on the other hand, it's kind of fun to have the anticipation and then excitement of seeing each element get put into place.

I'll try to be patient Cheesy Grin

You and I both, Smoodgie Cheesy Grin

Yes, I really love seeing things come together - one piece/element at a time. The transformation is all the fun!!
