Countdown on... to a new kitchen!

RE: Countdown on... to a new kitchen!
Hi Everyone,

SIG has finished all that he can for now... he says the rest will have to wait until he comes back with the new cabinet in about 4 weeks. He still has to finish the crown moulding (he's installed a base for them on all the uppers [except on the area he has to replace] but not the actual crown)... and he has to install the light rail... but he'll do all that when he returns next month.

Plumber was here today also. Our sink is plumbed and now I can wash some dishes (I never thought I'd be happy about that task!), but he hasn't hooked up the fridge line or dishwasher... and he didn't hook up the gas range either... the hold up = our electrician has to finish his wiring. Both will be here tomorrow morning, so... all appliances will be in their spots later in the day Icon_smile

Anyway... the only real obvious visible change since yesterday is that SIG's tools are gone and the handles have been put on. I think I'll wait until the appliances are in before I take and post any more pics. Maybe I'll get lucky and our electrician will install my pendants, pots and the light over the sink!!

Hope everyone had a great Friday... it's the weekend now!
Vickie

Hi Everyone... I thought I'd post some progress pics of our kitchen.
Appliances are in and working!!! I made dinner last evening on our new range and I was able to finally do some dishes... in a dishwasher!!! Cheesy Grin No more paper plates Razz

Keep in mind that we have a month until the replacement cabinet is installed (the damaged cabinet was installed - but it's sitting without it's door in the corner) - SIG will be finishing the crown moulding at that time (no point in doing it now) - and counters should be (I hope!) installed by that time, too. In the mean time, we're using lovely plywood for counters! Rolleyes Not so fun to wipe down!

And this final pic is of the light fixture we put above the sink... it matches the chandelier we'll be hanging in a few weeks (in the eating area... can't see it in these photos).

Unfortunately our electrician hasn't installed my pendant lights yet (they'll be over the peninsula to the left of the range). I'll have to wait a few weeks for that Cries BUT, my pot lights are in, so the space is nicely lit!!

So we're in a holding pattern... over the next month we'll be able to get the walls painted, but that's about it. BUT... every time I come into the house I just KNOW I'll stop in the middle of our new kitchen and just... take it in!! I love it!!

P.S. the floor need a good scrub EEK

I was wrong about progress.. we're getting a new window in the next week or so!! OOPS! The one in the photos above is pretty bad - it can't open! And it's single pane so it's horrible in this cold weather. So... the next pics I'll post will have 1) a new window, 2) all cabinets and details fully installed, 3) walls painted, and 4) counter tops in. Then... you can all help me choose a backsplash tile!! Sweet!! Clap

That's a LOT of progress in one week!! Even with the corner cabinet setback, things are really coming together. And that turned out to be a good thing anyway, right?? Icon_smile

Did you pick a stone for the countertop yet??

Uh, yeah, wash that floor there, would ya?! Wink

Looks really good, Vickie Blue Thumbs Up

We haven't gone to the warehouse yet, but we've pretty much decided on a granite type - it's called "Oriental" - here's a pic (it's out of focus, I'm afraid... couldn't get my stupid camera to focus Sad)

We were originally thinking of using Cecilia Classico, but I was finding it too gold. I discovered this sample and loved it!! It has the graining and rust-coloured spots that I like, but with a creamier background. Should be a great look with the darker cabinets and floors. So... hopefully DH and I can find a similar slab at the store.

DH was kind enough to search out the mop in the storage disaster area we call the basement and bring it up for me... went so far as to point it out for me as it leaned against the wall. Could he be telling me something?! Say wha? I guess I'm not alowed to do the couch potato thing this evening... I might get grounded if I don't do my chores!

Even fuzzy, that granite looks great!!! I think the colours will work well with your cabinets. Good luck finding a nice slab in that granite Icon_smile

Hey, forget the chores -- make hubby do the cleaning!! Although if he's anything like my hubby, you'd just have to re-clean what he cleans anyway Wink
