I thought that you had glass knobs on your cabinets... isn't it funny that our knobs are exactly the same Your kitchen is beautiful, by the way... I'm looking forward to seeing how your window coverings turn out... you're doing romans for the kitchen windows similar to the one you made for the powder room, right?

SIG and his helper were here all day today and the kitchen is looking great! I took a few pics but I'm not going to post anything tonight... I'd like to wait until tomorrow evening when the kitchen will look more pulled together... perhaps with the appliances in the right places

OK, I guess we can wait till tomorrow..... but you HAVE to post pics then no matter how far along the installation is!!!!

This is exciting - living vicariously through you while you design and complete your kitchen. I am sooo ready to move to a new house and start over again - one day (soon I hope) I shall have my dream home!

Hi All...

I'm still at work, but I'm counting down the hours before I can head home and see my kitchen!! DH called and told me that SIG has all the cabinets in and was working on the details like light rail, crown, installing the sink (it doesn't have to wait for the counter, which is nice!) and the hood fan. SIG is hoping to finish today, but he thinks he'll have a few little things to do tomorrow.

There is a wee problem that DH told me about, though... it turns out the the position of the peninsula is different from what we'd thought (it's "off" by a few inches) and so it covers a different section of floor. We didn't tile a small portion of this particular section and it shows by the toe kick. So... I'll have to pull out the tiles in this area and re-lay larger tiles that fill in the area. It's a silly mistake, really... but no big deal to fix.

So... photos tonight!!!

SIG still has to add details like crown moulding (that will take cupboards to the ceiling), appliances haven't been put in place, and of course there are no counters yet (we'll put some plywood on to see us through the next month)... but here we go!

Turns out that SIG was able to install everything... he's set it up so that he can easily pull the cabinet out and re-install the new, larger cabinet when it arrives... he's an install god!

So that's it! At the risk of boring you all, I'll post a couple of pics tomorrow evening with appliances in place (maybe even the dishwasher)... plumber is coming tomorrow to hook up the water and gas so I can wash a few dishes AND cook!!

How long does it usually take, Sweetie? Our last kitchen was installed in a day so I was thinking that this install was taking ages. Of course, it didn't help that SIG had to take part of Monday and all of Tuesday off because of the flu.

I AM impressed with his skill, though. I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with the way he's pulling everything together!

Looking forward to posting pics with appliances AND without all SIG's equipment around the space.

looks great...almost there. The finishing touches will be the fun part and you can now picture things in there much better. Great job!
