Colour scheme for entire home
Has anyone ever wanted to completely redo their colour scheme for their entire house? I'm very much thinking of doing this. I'm really struggling with my paint colours. I really like colours with cool undertone (such as grays) but a lot of my large items (cupboards, countertops and furniture) all have warm undertones to them. I'm contemplating painting the entire house over again. Of course my fiance is dead set against this (which is understandable) but I really think that going with new warm colours will fix this problem. A great example is my hallway colour. It runs from the foyer, into the dining/living room and the downstairs and upstairs hall. The builders golden oak staircase doesn't look too hot with BM Revere Pewter. Golden oak never looks too hot to me personally

RE: Colour scheme for entire home
Abby, I think you should consider painting the golden oak staircase. That will really update your home. If you are not a fan of that golden oak effect, I know that I am not, then don't wait to do this...go for it. That alone will really make a difference. Do you have any pics of what you have right now?

I agree with Donnasinc.
I also wanted to tell you that the colour scheme you've chosen is terrific! You've done a great job ensuring that the rooms relate well with one another and with the Revere Pewter. Also... the colours you're looking at shouldn't take you too far away from the minimal style and cool greys that you like. Edin Design - Home remodeling is fun! |

RE: Colour scheme for entire home
Just an update...
I've painted the spare bedroom, powder room and half of the downstairs already. I'm happy with the colours so far. Working with all warm colours is SOOO much easier than trying to match cool and warm colours. The tones were always off no matter how much I tried. The kitchen cabinets even look better with the new colour in the living room. The ugly golden oak staircase even looks better! I will post photos when things look a little more 'finished'. I need accessories big time! |
