Candice Olsen????
I watched a bit of tv last night and this show came on about gutting someones kitchen. I turned out really nice, I particularily liked the wrap around corner bench beside all the windows. But the part that caught my attention was the concrete counter tops - any thoughts or reviews? I also really liked the automatically closing drawers and cupboards!

RE: Candice Olsen????
I know someone in Vancouver who had concrete countertops - she left one section the natural grey colour (OK) and the other section on the opposite side of the kitchen had a colour to it - looked pretty great but I have heard that it is essential that a good installer is essential otherwise it cracks a lot. Hers did crack a little but it kind of added to the appeal.
Automatic drawers and cupboards - I would love to redo my kitchen again - all these new ideas! |

RE: Candice Olsen????
We looked into the concrete countertops and were told that they would have to be sure that our house could support the weight. Seemed a bit strange to me, I realize it is heavy but.... I love the look. Personally I am getting tired of seeing granite in every kitchen. Do not mean to offend anybody with granite countertops.

RE: Candice Olsen????
A friend of ours actually used old ceramic tiles and broke them into pieces. They then bought various smaller tiles and built their own countertop surface in a mosaic style. It looks amazing and they had fun doing it their way ...
