Bling for the bedroom
Wow, HS had a LOT of nice mirrored stuff today!! I picked up a couple of mirrored boxes, a small silver box, and a metal "circle" bowl for the guest bedroom. Well, I won't use it all -- I just followed my motto, But it and Try it Icon_smile Tell me what you think....

And here are a couple of mirrors to try above the night table. In the second one, the areas that look yellow are actually clear, so whatever is behind the mirror will show through (in this case, it would be the wallpaper). Do either of them work??

And finally, I bought some bigger pillows to put in the purple shams. And I added a fuzzy cream cushion to the bed. What do you think??

The shiny pieces are all pretty, where have you got them slated for?
No opinion on the mirrors, I don't care for that look personally.
Shams fit nice Cheesy Grin I like the pillows but I'd like to see 2 that match out of the four. Wink

RE: Bling for the bedroom
I don't know if I'm keeping them all. Right now, the circle bowl is on the highboy with the little table piece and the small oval box is on the night table. I'll probably keep both of them, and one of the large mirrored boxes. Probably the rectangle one.

I took the other mirror out of the box last night to get the full effect of how it looks against the wall. I like it Icon_smile Here are two pics -- one is with the flash and one without. Isn't it cool how the lamp shade matches the wall colour with the flash, and it matches the wallpaper colour without the flash?!

What colour curtain rod -- silver metal or dark brown wood??

Do you mean I need two matching cushions?? That's not likely to happen -- HS didn't have many of the purple ones when I bought those two, and hasn't had any more since.

Hi Smoodgie,

I'm sorry it's taken a couple days to respond to this post... I needed to think about what I liked! EEK

I really like the circle bowl (circle paper... obviously!) and the oval box (this piece reminded me of the swirlies on your shams). I also like the rectangle box. And, as it happens, you say these are the pieces you're likely to keep Cheesy Grin Excellent! Thumbs Up

I'm afraid I'm not crazy about the creamy pillow Sad It just doesn't make sense with the other colours in the room.
You know I LOVE the silky gray one, though!!

As for the mirrors... they're just not doing it for me. I still see a dark-framed mirror to tie in with your furniture and create weighted balance between the high chest and the lamp-side of the bed. BUT... you mentioned that you really liked the see-through mirror. And you're there to appreciate the affect it has in your room. It's very hard for us to see the affect via photos. So... if you like it, go for it! If in doubt, try something else.
Sorry I couldn't be more help with this!

RE: Bling for the bedroom
I'm not loving the idea of a mirror with a dark frame, for some reason. Although I did see a mirror at BouClair with a dark frame that didn't look too bad. Maybe I'll try it out. In the meantime, I found this one at HomeSense today:

And I found this mirrored box that I really like -- it ties in with the little "table" box with the damask pattern:

And I found these two sets of curtains that I really like and they're the perfect shade of gray:

But the problem is, I can't return the other curtains to Linen Chest. Well, I probably can, but I'd only get a store credit, which doesn't do me much good because I hardly ever shop there. So do I blow the $100 I spent on the LC curtains and go with one of the sets from HS instead, or bring both HS sets back even though I like them better?? I Don't Know

AND, I bought a mirror. I couldn't bring it home, though, 'cause it's too big to fit in the car. But it's one of those mirrors with the mirrored frame. When HS had a lot of them, I had nowhere to put one so I never bought one. And now that I was wanting one for the bedroom, I thought I'd never find one. But there it was this morning at HS!! And no Hold sign on it either!! So I bought it and they wrapped it up for me and now I just need to go back in the truck to pick it up. I'll return the mirror I bought a few weeks back with the gray frame. I like it, but I don't think it's glam enough for the room.

RE: Bling for the bedroom
The room is looking great so far. Is the new mirror that you bought for this room? Would you consider leaning a floor length mirror behind the bedside table...it may work if it has similar dimensions to the dresser on the other side. If you do try it out can you take a pic of the whole wall so we can see the dresser on the one side of the bed and the mirror on the other. The circle mirror is cute but not on that wall...too many circles. What are your plans for the headboard now?

RE: Bling for the bedroom
You know, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of leaning a mirror behind the night table. That way, I wouldn't have to put screw holes in the wallpaper. I saw a good one at Loblaws tonight -- dark brown frame beveled edge.... not sure how tall it is, but it would probably be a bit taller than the highboy.

It might be tough to get a shot of the bed wall with both the night table and the highboy -- the room is small and I don't know if I can get far enough from the wall to fit everything into the shot.

Not sure what to do about the headboard. I could leave it as is, or re-cover it -- maybe with purple velvet??
